5 REALTIME IMAGES SHOWING DEVELOPED ARCHITECTURE
My main Inspiration for my design was from Peter Zumthor's Thermal Vals. I Tried to make use of similar geometric shapes that create personalized spaces. Above its my Architecture School and below are an image and plan of Zumthor's Thermal Vals.
The Main Corridor for the school, I wanted a continuous hallway that traveled from one end to the other. At the far end is the students elevator, note the doorways on the right side that lead to the classrooms.
The Folly in all its glory, again I tried to use simple geometric shapes although for the folly I wanted a space that feels open although is actually protected by the surrounding building. The point of the various geometric shapes is to create different feelings of space when viewed at different angles, especially from the elevators, (which is why they are open), and to personalize the space due to different heights, angles etc. The folly is located at the bottom of the overall school, but on the roof of the workshops beneath.
This is the view from the Dean's office through his elevator. The Idea of the open elevators is to allow controlled views of the surrounding landscape, that are allowed and denied by the architecture.
The view from the Dean's elevator, through the school, to the students elevator. This is one of the controlled views that goes right through the building.
